When you think of agriculture- do you think of livestock & crops, tractors & farmers out in the bush?
Whilst they are very important parts of the industry, agriculture encompasses much more than commonly perceived. Agriculture may start with producing food & fibre, but that is most definitely not where it ends!
Our food and fibre is continually being improved through research and development, and that research needs to be extended to producers. The land we use needs to be conserved whilst being used as efficiently as possible. Technology is being developed to improve efficiency & sustainability practices. The produce then needs to be processed, packaged, marketed & transported, not just around our country, but around the world. Our agricultural businesses need management & consultancy and of course these stories need to be communicated to the general public through education services and events.
Whilst farmers are the well known face of our industry, we are a team of people, from all walks of life, working together to ensure Australian produce gets from the paddock, to your plate (and wardrobe!). These people live in the city and the country, they work in boardrooms and the bush. Why not take a few minutes to meet them, and see if you want to embark on the ag-venture of a lifetime!
